Making good.
I am sorry.
I am sorry for what my settler ancestors did, and what continues to happen to the Indigenous peoples of Turtle Island. In the spirit of reconciliation with the Indigenous Peoples of Canada, I have read the TRC's 94 Calls to Action and pledge to:
I respect the deep connections that Indigenous peoples have to this land, and support the reclamation of their identity, culture, language and sovereignty. I am committed to taking a role and responsibility in working towards a better future. I believe that the arts contribute to the healing and decolonizing journey we all share together. I learned the brick-stitch beading technique in a workshop
with Nalakwsis, a talented Cree bead artist, illustrator and photographer from Whapmagoostui, QC. Support them by ordering ordering their works here. As a settler, I will not profit from my own beaded creations - but I will accept funds in exchange for earrings, and pass 100% of your donations to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society. Thank you for supporting this fundraising effort. * Image (top) from https://native-land.ca/ |
